How it all works

FS3128 also known as CP3060-01 is THE introductory maths course for the New Zealand Diploma of Engineering.  The course is for students who do not have the prerequisites to directly enter the DE4102 course, or for whom maths study was a long time ago

Module 1 Arithmetic of whole numbers

After completing this topic you will be able to:
  • use the rules for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing positive and negative integers
  • explain what an integer is
  • define and recognise what is meant by a prime number
  • prime factorise a number
  • find the highest common factor and the lowest common multiple of two or three numbers
  • explain what a fraction is
